John & Jen
Music by Andrew Lippa
Book by Tom Greenwald
February 17-March 6, 2005
"John & Jen massages the heartstrings of any American who lived through the past forty years and came out smiling."-The New Times
In the spirit of television shows like "The Wonder Years" and "American Dreams," this musical travels with two boys named John - one a soldier in Vietnam and one a young boy facing the challenges of growing up in a changing world - along with Jen, the girl who connects their lives across the decades.
John & Jen spans four decades of American history as it remains tightly focused on the story of one family and its journey through the second half of the 20th Century. Lippa and Greenwald weave a tale about Jen Tracy (Leigh Barrett), along with her younger brother John and (in the second act) her son John, both played by Eric Rubbe. The New Times calls John & Jen, "the little show that packs a big punch!”
Writer Andrew Lippa contributed songs to the award-winning Broadway revival of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and wrote the hit Off-Broadway musical The Wild Party.
