Introducing young people to live theatre is one of the major elements of Stoneham Theatre’s mission. Their educational arm, the young co. is the only theatre-training program for young students in the Metro North area run by a professional theatre company. Under the direction of Stoneham’s Artistic Associate and Director of Education Caitlin Lowans, the summer students work under the guidance of a professional staff of award-winning directors, music directors, choreographers and assistants (John Howrey, Jose Delgado, Judy Hayward and Christopher James Webb). In addition to rehearsals, the students take part in four different workshops to study different styles of dance and acting. All workshops, rehearsals, and performances are specifically designed to develop important skills like teamwork and self-confidence as well as an appreciation for the craft of theatre. The program culminates in public performances August 9 through 12 of the four shows ( The Boyfriend, Anything Goes, Thoroughly Modern Millie, You Can’t Take It With You) by all three groups on the Stoneham Theatre’s stage. The Stoneham Theatre is located at 395 Main Street, Stoneham. Box Office hours are Tuesday through Saturday 1pm to 6pm. For tickets visit or call the Box Office 781-279-2200 or purchase online at www.stonehamtheatre.org.
