Jazz/Funk for Musical Theatre
April 27-June 8, 2013
Saturdays
10:15am-11:25am in our Large Rehearsal room
The mix between popular dance and Broadway may have started in the 1950s, but it continues right up through today with blockbuster musicals like In The Heights. But when The Wiz first came to town in the late 1970s, Broadway was blown away by that new style. Using a combination of musical theatre, jazz, funk and hip hop dance, this class will help actors develop rhythm, isolation and a new way of moving. It's also great preparation for our summer shows.
Foundations: Freeing the Body for act 3

Our acting classes for high school level actors have a slightly different structure. We offer four foundations classes in each of the aspects we think build a great basis for truthful and compelling work onstage: body, voice, mind and text. This is a movement class which draws on different advanced physical actor training techniques that helps the actor open up and connect to oneself and the other members of an ensemble. This class will help actors explore and expand their own ranges and physical capabilities.
