Stoneham Theatre is committed to producing one world premiere play each season as part of the Don Fulton New Play Project. We accept submissions from March 1 to August 1 each year from playwrights and agents as part of the process for selecting these plays.
In addition to potential selection for a full production as part of the Don Fulton New Play Project, we may also consider your play for a reading or workshop.

Director of Development
Stoneham Theatre accepts manuscripts of full-length, original plays by living American writers who are at least 18 years old.
We are a mission-driven theatre and select plays for development and production based on their intersection with our mission. To that end, we ask that all writers submit an application explaining why their play is suited to Stoneham Theatre, along with a 20-page excerpt from the play. Should your application be accepted, we will request a pdf script from you directly.
Please Note: We have a blind selection process and request that you exclude author name and credit from the submitted excerpt and full script (if requested).
Things to keep in mind:
The mission of Stoneham Theatre is to keep the art of professional theatre and dramatic education thriving in the suburbs.
We seek to strengthen community in our suburban setting by encouraging first-time and seasoned audiences to experience the excitement of live theatre. We present plays and musicals, both familiar and new, which speak to the interests and concerns of our region and beyond.
We are looking for plays that recognize, speak to, and challenge our suburban audiences. Many in our audience are not traditional theatre-goers and gravitate toward musicals more than plays. This is to say that if it weren’t for us, they may never see a straight play.
So, what do we want? We want to expose our audiences to stories they might not otherwise see. If your play speaks to urban or global concerns or the concerns of a specific minority not strongly represented in our region, we will ask you how it makes itself accessible, relatable and significant to our suburban patrons.
